Beech Mountain's spectacular 18-hole, ridge-top golf course boasts magnificent views of mountain ranges in Tennessee and Virginia. Originally designed by Willard Byrd, the course has undergone a renovation over the last 10 years using a master plan developed by noted Golf Course Architect, Tom Jackson, providing several sets of tees and new greens while extending the course to 6,250 yards in length.
The course ranges over elevations between 4,200 and 4,700 feet, so the average summer temperature rarely exceeds 72 degrees.
For those looking to improve their game, there is a practice facility staffed by professionals with teaching expertise. Members have an opportunity to join various golf associations, which conduct weekly tournaments, annual championships and inter-club events.
There are member-run programs for women, men and nine-holers, and couples can compete and socialize with other couples during Twilight Thursday evenings.
